Four Charged for Interstate Trafficking of Ghost Guns into Yonkers

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced on Tuesday, Aug. 9, that four individuals who were arrested in June as a result of a multi-agency investigation into the trafficking of illegal firearms from Washington to Westchester between April and June have been charged.   In addition to the arrests, authorities seized 31 ghost guns, as well as two conventional firearms, that were allegedly assembled and purchased in Washington, D.C., before being transported to Yonkers for sale between April 28 and June 24.   “This case is just one example of my gun safety initiative in action: conducting proactive investigations

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating a 70-year-old man reported missing in Fordham Manor. Police said Michael Hernandez, 70, of 100 West Kingsbridge Road in The Bronx, NY, was last seen Thursday, Aug. 11, at 1.30 p.m., leaving his home. Artist, Ruth Marshall, Brings Flower Power to Bronx Park

On the precipice of Bronx Park in Norwood, a series of tapestries made with colorful parachute cords now decorate the railing, bringing a splash of color to the park entrance. Council Passes Historic Maternal Health Package to Help Address Racial Disparities

For the first time in the history of the City Council, on Thursday, Aug. 11, the legislative body passed a package of legislation addressing significant disparities in maternal health, mortality, and morbidity. UPDATE Bedford Park: MTA “Heartbroken” Over Death of Female Transit Worker at Mosholu Maintenance Yard

The MTA has announced the death of a female transit worker who was only three months into her role at its Mosholu maintenance yard in Bedford Park.   In a brief statement on Thursday, Aug. 11, the agency wrote, “The Transit family is heartbroken to have lost a colleague as she was putting a train into service at the Mosholu Yard to help move New Yorkers, and we are conducting a thorough investigation to determine what happened.”   The agency said the victim, Azure Forde, 38, joined NYC Transit on May 15, 2022, as a train operator.     Breaking
