Fire Ignites on Kingsbridge Road Elevated Subway Track  

Video footage of flames and smoke seen on the elevated subway platform of the Kingsbridge Road subway station raised alarm bells on Tuesday, April 18. A spokesperson for the MTA later explained to Norwood News that a smoke condition was reported at around 8.05 a.m. and that the 4 train service was suspended until 8:57 a.m. between Woodlawn and Burnside Avenue while FDNY investigated the incident.   Firefighters were also captured at the scene on a video posted to the Citizens’ App by local residents. Local nonprofit Up Life foundation held an Easter celebration in the Williamsbridge Oval park in Norwood on Sunday, April 9, complete with a DJ, MC, balloons, games, goodie bags, dancing, and more for local families to enjoy. Why Do Kids Get Type 2 Diabetes? $4.1M Grant to Help Montefiore Einstein Researchers Investigate

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is surging among U.S. children, according to officials at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) and Albert Einstein College of Medicine (together, Montefiore-Einstein). Van Nest: Man Sought after Woman is Groped at Subway Station

A young woman who was reportedly kidnapped in Brooklyn on Friday, April 21, has been located, police said.   Police said that on Friday, April 21, at around 1.45 a.m. an unidentified female victim was kidnapped by an unidentified man at the intersection of Avenue W and Stillwell Avenue in the Gravesend neighborhood in the southern part of Brooklyn. Norwood: Man Arrested for Attempted Murder in East Gun Hill Road Building Shooting

Police said a 69-year-old man has been arrested on various charges, including attempted murder, following a shooting in a residential building on East Gun Hill Road in Norwood last weekend, as reported.    An NYPD spokesperson said that on Sunday, April 16, at around 3.20 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired inside of 234 East Gun Hill Road on the 3rd floor. Norwood: Old School Fun at Annual Easter Egg Hunt in The Williamsbridge Oval
