NYS Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (A.D. 83) and Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal (A.D. 67) announced on Thursday, March 27, the passage of a new law (A.1502, Rosenthal) earlier this week that makes menstrual products safer by restricting the inclusion of certain chemicals like lead, mercury and per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), among others, in their production.

For the second time in two months, firefighters were called to a second Dekalb Avenue building in Norwood for a report of a ceiling collapse. In the latest incident, Jumratan Inshanali, a 33-year resident of 3561 Dekalb Avenue, said she was sitting in her bedroom with her home health aide on Monday, March 10, when water started to pour out of her ceiling and into her first-floor apartment.

Kingsbridge Heights: Man Assaulted Aboard Northbound D Train
A man was assaulted aboard a D train as it approached Kingsbridge Road subway station on Monday night, March 17, according to the NYPD. They said the incident took place at around 9.25 p.m. when a 35-year-old man was aboard a northbound “D” train in the vicinity of Grand Concourse and East Kingsbridge Road. “An individual punched him in the face, causing bruising and pain after a verbal dispute,” they said. “The victim refused medical attention.”
