Bronx Park: Hit ‘n Run Driver Sought in Fordham Road Fender-bender

One driver was injured and another driver was being sought after a hit ‘n run collision was reported on the busy underpass connecting Pelham Parkway with East Fordham Road in Bronx Park on Friday, May 8.

According to the NYPD, the incident unfolded at 4:40 p.m. on May 8 when a 24-year-old man driving a 2012 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling westbound towards East Fordham Road was struck by an unidentified vehicle that failed to navigate the roadway and collided with the Sonata near Crotona Avenue.

Police say the unidentified vehicle fled the location without exchanging information with the 24-year-old male who was walked to a patrol car and transported by police to Jacobi Hospital in Morris Park, where he was treated for minor injuries.

Several police vehicles responded to the scene and were seen traveling against heavy traffic at the side of the roadway. It appeared that the passenger side airbag of the impacted Sonata had been deployed. Police have made no arrests in the crash and are continuing to investigate.

 

They said that with collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigation, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.
