Bedford Park: One Arrested, One Injured in Crash as Truck Hangs Over Mosholu Parkway Wall

The NYPD said one person has been arrested and one person was injured following a motor-vehicle collision in The Bedford Park section of The Bronx on Saturday evening, June 27.

A police spokesperson said the department received a call regarding the collision at around 6.15 p.m. Mosholu Parkway and Hull Avenue (it was closer to Marion Avenue).

The spokesperson said a 25-year-old male incurred minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital. He did not have details of which hospital.

“One individual was taken into custody, and that’s all we got so far,” the spokesperson added.

At the scene, a truck was seen crashed into a wall about 15 feet from the intersection of Marion Avenue and Mosholu Parkway.

Several residents were seen standing around recording the scene. One couple told Norwood News there were told by others who had been at the scene earlier that there allegedly were two occupants in the truck.

One silver saloon car was seen crashed and stationary on top of the center median. It was later towed away.

 

Efforts to remove the truck from the wall were unsuccessful and one police official was heard saying a larger tow vehicle was needed for the job.

The truck was seen suspended around 20 feet and hanging over Mosholu Parkway wall close to the intersection of Marion Avenue. Inside the park was an abandoned e-bike. It did not appear to have been involved in the crash based on what the police said. There was also an abandoned flat screen TV.

Local residents we spoke to said they heard a very loud bang but did not see the accident take place.

Speaking in Spanish, one woman said, “There’s usually a Mexican lady selling fruit on the median [of Mosholu Parkway] on Saturdays, but she’s not here.

Also speaking in Spanish and gesturing to a nearby bench beside the crash site, another resident said, “There are usually old people seated on the bench. Thank God there was nobody there.”

 

Another resident said there were often children playing inside the park and could have been injured when the truck crashed through the wall.

Another resident said the occupants of the truck had been cleaning up the parkway.

Police later confirmed that the driver of the truck had been taken to the NYPD Highway Division to be tested for possible intoxication.

With collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigation, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.

A TRUCK THAT was involved in a car accident with another vehicle and which crashed into Mosholu Parkway wall at Marion Avenue in the Bedford Park section of the Bronx on Saturday, June 27, 2026, and was earlier suspended and hanging over the wall (with an approximate 20 foot drop on the interior park side) as of 10.20 p.m. on Saturday night, has since been extracted and is being towed away.
