UPDATE Norwood: Annual Holi Festival Celebrated in the Williamsbridge Oval

Hosted by the Jerome Gun Hill Business Improvement District (BID), the annual Holi festival was celebrated at the Williamsbridge Oval park in Norwood, The Bronx on March 14.

A spectacular display of community and color, as the countdown reached zero, the previously clear air was suddenly filled with thick clouds of pink, yellow, blue, and green powder (gulal).

While some started by tossing neat handfuls of gulal into the sky, the event quickly ramped up into full overdrive as clouds of powder descended upon the laughing and squealing participants.

According to Wikipedia, Holi is a major Hindu festival of colors, love and spring, marking the end of winter. It celebrates the divine love of Radha and Krishna, and honors the triumph of good over evil. In addition to throwing bright colored powders, in some parts of the world, celebrations also include massive bonfires.
