The latest government crackdown of unauthorized smoke shops, “Operation Padlock to Protect,” continues across Norwood and Bedford Park as two smoke shops and a deli were recently shut down and untaxed cigarettes, vapes, and bags of cannabis were confiscated.

Tenants and Elected Officials Gather To Protest Housing Conditions at Tracey Towers

Around 50 frustrated tenants joined local elected officials for a rally outside Bedford Park’s Tracey Towers on Saturday, June 15, to protest what they said are poor living conditions in the 871-unit housing complex. Residents say they have been grappling with a slew of problems like frequent water leaks, a significant rat infestation, and perpetually malfunctioning elevators for a number of years.

FDNY: Stove Fire at Tracey Towers Results in No Injuries

  A fire at Tracey Towers housing complex, located on the Norwood-Bedford Park border, on Saturday resulted in no injuries the FDNY said. An FDNY spokesperson said the department was alerted to reports of a fire at the 871-unit complex, located at 40 West Mosholu Parkway South, at around 5.10 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. UPDATE Tracey Towers Management & Department of Buildings Dispute DOB Violations Status

The public relations firm representing Jerome Park’s Tracey Towers housing complex, responded to a Norwood News story published in our April 21-May 4 edition, in which we reported on a wall collapse and stop work order in place by New York City Department of Buildings (DOB), which temporarily shut the Tracey Towers playground.   In the statement issued by Bill Corbett of Corbett Public Relations, with copy to a second PR firm representative, Don Miller of West End Strategies, on Monday, May 2, Corbett wrote, “The safety of residents and the public remains the number one priority of Tracey Towers Associates.

Jerome Park: FDNY Investigate Fire on 21st Floor of Tracey Towers

Video courtesy of Citizen The FDNY is investigating a fire that broke out at Tracey Towers in Jerome Park on Friday, July 23. According to a video posted by Citizen’s App users, smoke was seen billowing seemingly from two sides of one of the towers at a certain point.   Jean Hill, president of the Tracy Towers Tenants’ Organization, which had just held its last meeting before the summer break at the Mitchell Lama housing complex the previous evening, told the Norwood News on Friday that the fire had broken out on the 21st floor and had been extinguished.
