Tenants and Elected Officials Gather To Protest Housing Conditions at Tracey Towers
Around 50 frustrated tenants joined local elected officials for a rally outside Bedford Park’s Tracey Towers on Saturday, June 15, to protest what they said are poor living conditions in the 871-unit housing complex. Residents say they have been grappling with a slew of problems like frequent water leaks, a significant rat infestation, and perpetually malfunctioning elevators for a number of years.

FDNY: Stove Fire at Tracey Towers Results in No Injuries
A fire at Tracey Towers housing complex, located on the Norwood-Bedford Park border, on Saturday resulted in no injuries the FDNY said. An FDNY spokesperson said the department was alerted to reports of a fire at the 871-unit complex, located at 40 West Mosholu Parkway South, at around 5.10 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. A security guard later told Norwood News the fire broke out on the 27th floor. Meanwhile, the FDNY spokesperson said the incident was caused by an “oven fire” and was contained to the stove. Jerome Park: FDNY Investigate Fire on 21st Floor of Tracey Towers

According to a video posted by Citizen’s App users, smoke was seen billowing seemingly from two sides of one of the towers at a certain point. Jean Hill, president of the Tracy Towers Tenants’ Organization, which had just held its last meeting before the summer break at the Mitchell Lama housing complex the previous evening, told the Norwood News on Friday that the fire had broken out on the 21st floor and had been extinguished.
