MTA Release First OMNY Vending Machines in The Bronx

MTA officials announced the activation of the first OMNY card vending machines in the City on Oct. 30, including at both Fordham Road subway stations serving the 4, B and D trains. Officials said electronic OMNY cards which can be tapped rather than swiped at subway station styles provide cash customers a way to take advantage of OMNY’s financial flexibility to pay-as-you-go and never spend more than $34 in 7 days.

Fordham Manor: Man Robbed while Sleeping Aboard D Train

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating the person seen in the attached photo who they say is sought in connection with a robbery that occurred in transit aboard the D train in Fordham Manor. 

Subway and Rail Service Changes for The Bronx to/from Manhattan September 29-October 2

The MTA has advised of the following weekend service changes. However, a spokesperson also said on Friday, Sept. 29, that due to the adverse weather conditions, these changes may finally be subject to cancellation, and they recommend checking the MTA homepage before heading out to get the latest information, or to sign up for real-time alerts to get notified about service changes as they happen.

No D Train Service during upcoming Weekends between 161st St.-Yankee Stadium and Norwood-205th St.

MTA officials have advised that due to more needed maintenance work, there will be no D train service operating between the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium subway station and the Norwood-205th Street station during the following weekends: Friday, Sept. 29, from 11.30 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 2, at 5 a.m. The D service will run between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and 161st Street-Yankee Stadium, the last stop. Feliz Seeks Federal Action to Curb Paper Plate Use

District 15 City Council Member Oswald Feliz introduced a bill earlier this year to curb the proliferation of fake license plates by increasing fines for those who sell or use fraudulent paper plates. Feliz told Norwood News on Friday, Aug. 4, New York has seen a drastic increase in the sale and use of such plates. This appears to have gotten worse since 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and many administrative offices were closed to the public.

UPDATE FDNY Called to Tracey Towers for Electrical Incident

Reports of a fire at Tracey Towers, a Mitchel Lama, residential housing complex located on the Bedford Park/Norwood border, on Saturday morning, July 15, proved to be unfounded, and the incident was later classified as an electrical issue, FDNY officials said.
