13-Year-Old Boy Shot in Belmont, Dies

Police responded to a 911 call regarding a person who had been shot in front of 743 East 187th Street in Belmont, in the 48th precinct, on Sunday, July 11, at approximately 3.18 p.m.   Upon arrival, police observed a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his chest and leg. EMS also responded and transported the youth to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing. Consecration of African Burial Ground at Van Cortlandt Park on Juneteenth

Van Cott Post Office Briefly Shuts for Repairs

  The United States Postal Service (USPS) Van Cott branch in Norwood is apparently back open following a temporary closure lasting nearly two weeks, and despite confirmation from USPS that the branch would remain closed until Friday, July 11. Toddlers Raise Money at “Trike-A-Thon” for St. Jude’s

  Over 120 preschoolers from the New York Institute for Special Education recently participated in the school’s annual “Trike-a-Thon,” in efforts to raise needed funding for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Search for Missing 39-Year-Old Woman Last Seen at Einstein Hospital

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance locating a woman reported missing in Morris Park, in the 49th precinct.
