Throggs Neck Bridge Closure as MTA Resumes Next Phase of Deck Replacement Work

Following a winter hiatus, and the successful completion of earlier stages of construction and roadway work which began in September 2020, the MTA Bridges and Tunnels division announced that it is resuming roadway work, and advancing to the next stage of deck replacement at Throggs Neck Bridge. MTA officials said, weather permitting, roadway work for the new phase, known as Stage 5 (of six stages) begins on Saturday night, Feb. 26, with an around-the-clock lane closure in place on Sunday, Feb. 27, to accommodate the work zone in the middle, Bronx-bound lane of the bridge span. New York City Emergency Management (EMS) issued a travel advisory on Thursday, Feb. 24, which is in effect through Friday, Feb. 25. The National Weather Service had issued a winter weather advisory for New York City the same day which is also in effect until 1 p.m. on Friday. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Tuesday, Feb. 22, that a man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree manslaughter for the fatal stabbing of his 73-year-old uncle in his South Bronx apartment in June 2018, and for fatally stabbing a woman in a security firm office in the Wakefield section of the Bronx a month later. Police confirm a man was found deceased at Bedford Park Boulevard-Lehman College subway station, which serves the number 4 line, in the early hours of Tuesday, Feb. 22. The NYPD has confirmed a 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Norwood man on Saturday. Police responded to a call regarding a man who had been shot on Saturday, Feb. 19, at approximately 3.17 p.m., on the corner of East Tremont Avenue and Belmont Avenue in the Tremont section of The Bronx. Renderings have been released by INOA Architecture to reveal The Miroza Tower, a 25-story, residential building to be located at 44 Hudson Street in downtown Yonkers, as reported by YIMBY.
