Nurses Continue Strike Action on Day 6 Under Snowfall
Montefiore nurses which make up some of the estimated 15,000 striking nurses in The Bronx and Manhattan, continued their strike action on Day 6 outside Montefiore Medical Center, a private non-for-profit hospital, in Norwood, The Bronx and at other Montefiore locations on Saturday, Jan. 17. The strike began on Monday, Jan. 12, as reported, following failed prior negotiations between the parties. Day 1: Nurses at Three NYC Private Hospital Systems Strike as Gov. Hochul Declares “State of Emergency”
Nearly 15,000 nurses across the City walked off the job before 7 a.m. on Monday Jan. 12, as nurses from three private hospitals Montefiore, Mount Sinai, and New York-Presbyterian, kicked off the largest nurses strike in New York City history. Help Prevent Subway Tragedies
At least two men have died, and three others have been injured in a series of unrelated train-related incidents that took place across Bronx train systems in the past month, according to City officials. No criminality is suspected in relation to the incidents involving the two deceased men, while one of the surviving injured victims was pushed in front of or against a moving train. Meanwhile, City officials are reminding New Yorkers that help is available for those who may be having thoughts of ending their lives.

UPDATE Two Former NYPD Cops Sentenced after Pleading Guilty to Sex Abuse of Intoxicated Woman
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced Monday, Jan. 12, that two former NYPD officers were sentenced in the sexual abuse of an intoxicated woman on Friday, Jan. 9, at Bronx Criminal Court, with one of the defendants required to register as a sex offender and both sentenced to probation and sex offender treatment programs as part of the plea agreement. The sentences imposes equated to those negotiated between the prosecution and the defense under the terms of a plea deal.
