UPDATE Norwood: 14-Year-Old Student Slashed in Williamsbridge Oval Park

Police from the 52nd precinct are investigating the slashing of a 14-year-old boy in Williamsbridge Oval Park in Norwood which took place over the weekend. The NYPD confirmed that on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 4.40 p.m., a 14-year-old boy was playing basketball [in the specified park, located at 3224 Reservoir Oval E.] when a male assailant approached him and slashed him on the cheek. The victim was removed to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition. According to the victim’s mother, whose identity we are not disclosing, the assailant is known to the victim as they were former classmates

After 16 months of postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Preston High School, an all girls school located in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx, finally got to host an alumnae reunion for the class years ending in zeros, fives, ones, and sixes on Saturday, Sept. 18. A local car dealership stepped up and made a $2,000 donation to support the film, drama, and music programs at St. Barnabas High School, as 200 students from Grade 9 through 12, returned to class after 18 months of virtual learning. The NYC Department of Education (DOE) has responded to remarks made by a representative of the NYC Schools Safety Coalition, Mona Davids, in the wake of a face slashing which took place at Bronx Collaborative High School on Wednesday. Sept. 15, after a dispute broke out between two students. As reported, an unidentified, 15-year-old student was slashed in the face with an unknown object on the school premises at DeWitt school campus, located in Jerome Park, while another student fled to parts unknown. A student from Bronx Collaborative High School was hospitalized following a slashing incident which took place at the school on Wednesday. Sept. 15, after a dispute broke out between two students. Police later confirmed on Tuesday, Sept. 21, that a 15-year-old male was arrested on Sept. 20 in relation to the incident and has been charged with assault.
