Mpox Cases on the Rise Again

NYC Health officials are warning New Yorkers that mpox / MPV cases are once again on the rise in New York City, with 226 people in New York City having tested positive for mpox since Jan. 1, and 57 cases having been recorded in the last month (Aug. 10 to Sept. 11).

Mamdani Calls for FIFA World Cup 2026 Ticket Fairness

Democratic mayoral nominee Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (A.D. 36) was back in The Bronx in St. James Park on Sept. 10 to “sound the alarm” ahead of the FIFA Soccer World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by New York City, but which Mamdani says the “vast majority of New Yorkers won’t be able to see” due to dynamic pricing of ticket sales.

Morris Heights: Bronx Man Reported Missing Last Seen Blocks from Federal Plaza Courthouse in Manhattan

The NYPD is seeking the public’s help locating a 24-year-old man reported missing from the Morris Heights section of The Bronx who was last seen in lower Manhattan at an address opposite Manhattan Detention Center.   Police said Branden Lopez, 24, of 1928 University Avenue in The Bronx was last seen leaving 139 Centre Street in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at around 9.17 a.m. They said he’s described as White, Hispanic, male, is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs around 310 pounds, has brown hair, and brown eyes. UPDATE Judge Orders Deportation of Bronx Student “Dylan” as Woman Violently Shoved Against Wall Inside Federal Plaza

The New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) announced on Tuesday, Sept. 23, that an immigration judge has issued a decision to deny the asylum claim of “Dylan,” a detained Marble Hill high school student at ELLIS Preparatory Academy who was detained by law enforcement in May, as reported, despite public outcry and a large rally held in lower Manhattan following his arrest.

UPDATE Williamsbridge: Man Arrested in Rape of 25-Year-Old Woman

The NYPD said a 26-year-old man has been arrested following a rape that occurred in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx earlier this month. Detectives had been asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached video and photo who they said was wanted in connection with the incident.
