UPDATE Parents Arrested following Death of 8-Year-Old Boy

The parents of an 8-year-old boy from Williamsbridge who died last June have been arrested on murder charges.   Police responded to a call from Montefiore North Hospital emergency room regarding the child, who had been brought to the facility by his mother from his Williamsbridge home, on Tuesday, June 1, at around 2.10 p.m.   The child was unconscious and unresponsive, with no obvious signs of trauma observed. DOB Pledges Zero Tolerance, Announces Sweep of Construction Sites for Safety Violations

NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) Commissioner Melanie E. La Rocca announced on Tuesday, June 1, that teams of DOB enforcement inspectors will be deployed across the five boroughs to perform safety sweeps on “the city’s larger and more complex construction sites,” to ensure they are safe for both workers and the public.   DOB officials said that when performing these “zero tolerance” sweeps, DOB inspectors will issue enforcement actions if they observe any safety violations, and will shut down sites if they find serious safety lapses. “Our inspectors and community engagement teams will also be distributing “Worker Alert” safety information

University Heights: Fire in 6-Story Multiple Dwelling Under Control

Norwood/Bedford Park: Cyclist Struck by SUV on Mosholu Parkway

University Heights: Woman Found Dead on Jerome Avenue

A woman has been found dead on Jerome Avenue in University Heights.   On Saturday, May 29, at around 6.27 a.m., police were alerted to a report of an unconscious female, lying in front of 2301 Jerome Avenue, in the 52nd precinct.   Upon arrival, officers observed an unconscious, unresponsive female with no obvious signs of trauma. Update: Bronx DA Report Says “No Criminality” by NYPD in Jahmel Leach Case

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark has released the findings of a 23-page report on the Public Integrity Bureau’s investigation into an incident involving Bronx teen, Jahmel Leach, and the NYPD which took place on Fordham Road on June 1, 2020.
