UPDATE New York Private Hospitals Poised for Potential Strike Action by NYS Nurses Association

Nurses who had been negotiating with their respective employers through the weekend ending Sunday, Jan. 4 over their working conditions and latest contracts have seen little progress at the table, according to the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA). A spokesperson for the union said on Monday, Jan. 5, that in just seven days, as many as 21,000 nurses at 15 private hospitals in New York City and Long Island could go on strike in what they say would be the biggest nurse strike in New York history.

Norwood: Rivera Confirms 20 Cameras Now Installed at Williamsbridge Oval Rec Center

State Sen. Gustavo Rivera (S.D. 33) confirmed on Tuesday, Dec. 16, that the 20 promised security cameras have been installed both outside and inside the Williamsbridge Oval Recreation Center in Norwood and share aerial diagrams of the exterior locations of each. Rivera said there are six exterior cameras and 14 interior ones.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams joined Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch and other NYPD officials for a press conference at One Police Plaza in Manhattan on Sunday, Dec. 14, to discuss security outside New York City synagogues, at Menorah lightings and Jewish gatherings in light of a terrorist attack on Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia, targeted at Jewish Australians who were celebrating the first day of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah on Sunday.
