There is no firehouse or hospital in the immediate area of the Amalgamated Housing Cooperative, located opposite Van Cortlandt Park South, yet residents of the cooperative have been joining in the national ritual to thank first responders on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic by going to their windows every night at 7 p.m. and diligently applauding. A homeless man residing at the Jerome Avenue Men’s Shelter (JAMS) in Norwood has been hit with a slew of charges after it was alleged he robbed $40 from a deli and attempted to stab a member of staff with a knife. Police are responding to a report about a missing 8-year-old boy at Sedgwick Ave & Cedar Ave in Morris Heights. The incident was reported at around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.
