Woman, 64, from Kingsbridge Heights Dies After Being Hit by Two Cars on Major Deegan Expressway

A 64-year-old woman from Kingsbridge Heights has died after being hit by a vehicle on the Major Deegan Expressway, police said.   An NYPD spokesperson said that on Wednesday, May 10, at around 7.40 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian who had been struck on the northbound Major Deegan Expressway at the exit area to North Mosholu Parkway [in Van Cortlandt Park].   “Upon arrival, officers observed a 64-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway,” the spokesperson said. “EMS responded to the location and transported the aided female to

Riverdale: Man Arrested following Road Accident which Killed 99-Year-Old Female Pedestrian

A 54-year-old Riverdale man has been arrested following the death last year of a 99-year-old female pedestrian, also from Riverdale.   As previously reported, the 99-year-old died after she was struck by an SUV while attempting to cross an intersection in southeast Riverdale, just west of the Kingsbridge border, on July 27, at around 8.30 a.m.   Police said officers were flagged down regarding a pedestrian who had been struck at Oxford Street and West 235th Street on the day of the incident. DynaDrive Fresh Water Well Pumps Recalled Due to Risk of Electric Shock

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on April 20 of about 1,060 units of DynaDrive Fresh Water Well Pumps with model numbers DD60-10NPT and DD90-11NPT and serial numbers between 190791000 and 223365720, due to the fact that the pumps are not adequately grounded and can pose an electric shock hazard to the user.   CPSC officials said the recalled products are water pumps used to stabilize water pressure for fresh water wells. Fire Ignites on Kingsbridge Road Elevated Subway Track  

Video footage of flames and smoke seen on the elevated subway platform of the Kingsbridge Road subway station raised alarm bells on Tuesday, April 18. A spokesperson for the MTA later explained to Norwood News that a smoke condition was reported at around 8.05 a.m. and that the 4 train service was suspended until 8:57 a.m. between Woodlawn and Burnside Avenue while FDNY investigated the incident.   Firefighters were also captured at the scene on a video posted to the Citizens’ App by local residents. Students at St. Philip Neri School in Bedford Park want first responders to know how much their service means to them.
