Hostos Community College Women’s & Men’s Basketball Teams Make it Double Gold

In a thrilling showcase of what was described by Hostos Community College representatives as skill and determination, the 14th nationally-ranked, college women’s basketball team solidified their reign over the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) tournament, securing their 11th championship title at the weekend and achieving an unprecedented, seventh consecutive title defense.

NY Lottery: Top Prize Winning Ticket Sold in Allerton

It was an extra special Valentine’s Day for one lucky Allerton resident. The New York Lottery announced that one top-prize winning ticket was sold in the neighborhood in the Feb. 14 midday drawing. Lottery officials said the ticket was sold at 3N Convenience Inc, located at 950 Allerton Avenue, and was worth $18,257.50.

Eastchester: BP Gibson Hosts 3rd Annual Black History Month Celebration

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson hosted her 3rd Annual Black History Month celebration at Eastwood Manor, located at 3371 Eastchester Road in the Eastchester section of the Bronx, on Wednesday, Feb. 7. The evening, recognized what was described as the richness of African American culture and history in the borough, and featured special performances by The Harlem Group Ensemble, and Renaissance H.S. Varsity Voices.

A few short weeks before the Bronx Conservative Party was set to take control in the Bronx’s City Council District 13 on Jan. 1, 2024, thanks to an upset by then-Republican/Conservative City Councilwoman-elect Kristy Marmorato over incumbent Democrat, Marjorie Velázquez, members of the Conservative Party held their annual Christmas celebration for supporters in Morris Park, as well as a subsequent holiday toy giveaway in the Throggs Neck section.
