DOL: Recruitment Drive Launched for 100 Carpenter Apprenticeships

  The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the High Rise Concrete Carpenters of New York City will conduct a recruitment drive from April 12 through November 8, 2023 for 100 Carpenter apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced on Monday, March 13.   According to the department, applicants must attend an in-person information session at NYC District Council of Carpenters Training Center (NYC DCC Training Center) located at 395 Hudson Street (Clarkson Street entrance) in Manhattan.   Montefiore Einstein announced on Thursday, March 2, that an anonymous donor is making a $100 million contribution to Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Montefiore Residents & Fellows Vote to Re-Unionize after Four Decades

Resident doctors at Montefiore Medical Center, one of the largest teaching hospitals in New York City, have successfully won union representation with a supermajority of 82 percent, voting in favor of joining the Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR/SEIU), the union announced on Feb. 23. Bronx CB6 Wants Answers on Fordham Plaza Reconstruction as City Assesses Fordham Corridor Needs

Extremely concerned members of Bronx Community Board 6 (CB6) sent a letter dated Feb. 20 to Keith Kalb, interim commissioner at the Bronx borough office of NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) on “the current state of Fordham Plaza.” In it, they refer to what they describe as DOT’s prior eviction of vendors and businesses previously operating in the Plaza, located in Belmont on the border with Fordham Heights and Fordham Manor, to facilitate reconstruction works at the site.
