Norwood: Movies in the Park after Dark Kicks Off in the Oval

Dozens of residents from Norwood and Bedford Park of all ages gathered at the Williamsbridge Oval Track and Field in Norwood on July 10 to watch the Pixar movie, “Finding Nemo,” kicking off the “Movies in the Park after Dark” summer series which will be running in the Oval throughout the summer.

North Central Bronx Hospital Unveils New Community Mural

The management and employees of NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx (NCB) joined artist Sophia Victor for the unveiling of a brand new mural entitled Healing Waves, created by Victor and painted on one of the interior, corridor walls of the Norwood-based hospital on June 28.

The Late Sandra Pabon to be Honored with Street Co-Naming on Bainbridge Avenue

Democratic City Council Member Eric Dinowitz (C.D. 11) announced on June 20 that he successfully championed the upcoming co-naming of the intersection of E. 204th Street and Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood as “Sandra Pabon Way” in honor of the late Sandra Pabon who had served as the chaplain of the 49th Precinct Clergy Council, as well as Democratic District Leader and Democratic State Committee Woman in Assembly District 80. As reported, Pabon died in June 2023.

Mayor, Council Speaker Strike Deal on $112.4 Billion Balanced FY 2025 Budget

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, Council Finance Chair Justin Brannan, members of the City Council, and senior members of the Adams administration announced an agreement on Friday, June 28, for an on-time, balanced, and fiscally-responsible $112.4 billion adopted budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025.

Annual Latin Culture Carnival Takes Place in Kingsbridge Heights Amid Heatwave

The prevailing heatwave that saw temperatures soar to around 100 degrees last weekend didn’t stop around 50 residents from venturing out to enjoy the Annual Latin Culture Carnival [El Carnival de la Cultura Latina] which took place next to the Kingsbridge Amory on West 195th Street between Reservoir Avenue and Jerome Avenue on Sunday, June 23. 

BronxNet Hosts Students for Launch of New Eco Show

BronxNet hosted second-grade students from Claremont Village’s C.S. 55 The Benjamin Franklin School on May 21 at BronxNet’s South Bronx Media + Technology center for the launch of “Eco-Leaders,” a new environmental TV show for children created by local Bronx puppetry artists.
