Former Bronx Republican District Leader & BOE Employee Gets Two Years for Extortion & Fraud

Nicole Torres, 44, a former Republican elected district leader in The Bronx and an employee of the NYC Board of Elections (BOE), was sentenced on Sept. 2 to two years in prison for extortion and fraud federal prosecutors announced on Sept. 2.

Claremont: Mother of Deceased Newborn Twin Boys Found in Courtyard Charged with Murder

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced Wednesday, Sept. 10, that a Bronx mother, who was arrested in July, has been indicted for first-degree murder and other related charges for killing her newborn twin sons, who were found among garbage bags in an alley outside her building in 2020.

UPDATE Van Cortlandt Park: Man Found Dead on Major Deegan with Trauma to Head & Body after Hit & Run

Police said a 30-year-old man was found dead on the Major Deegan Expressway in Van Cortlandt Park in the early hours of Sunday morning, Sept. 7 and have since said that they are investigating the incident as a hit & run.
