The New York Yankees announced on Monday, Feb. 5, that they have acquired left-handed pitcher (LHP), Caleb Ferguson, from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for LHP Matt Gage and right-handed pitcher (RHP) Christian Zazueta. Gage was acquired by the Yankees from the Houston Astros in January, as reported.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Friday, Feb. 2, that a Bronx man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for shooting a woman who was working at a City Island construction site, after finding out she had a boyfriend.

Bronx Book Swap Promotes Love for Reading and Beer in The Bronx

In a quiet, industrial area located in the Throggs Neck section of The Bronx, something unexpected took place in mid-December. The Bronx Brewery hosted a Bronx Book Swap event on Dec. 17 in conjunction with Norwood Community Library, a bookworm’s event at no cost. Participants came to donate, swap books, listen to live music with DJ Buddy Lee, and enjoy a cold brew beer. The event was the first such event when books in Spanish and in other languages were made available and sought, and it laid the ground for the “Books & Brews” Book Club which launched in January 2024.

AG Sues Fraudulent Bronx Immigration Lawyers for Scamming Immigrants

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit on Jan. 22 against Kofi Amankwaa, 69, a Bronx immigration lawyer, and others operating in his Concourse-located office, Sylvester Boateng, Nana Adoma Kontoh, Betty Smith, and Kofi Amankwaa Jr., 37, son of Kofi Amankwaa, for allegedly running an illegal scheme that scammed hundreds of vulnerable immigrants into paying thousands of dollars for fraudulent services that caused many to be deported or have their green card applications denied.
