  9/11 Memorial Events Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the Supreme Court of Bronx County is hosting a 9/11 memorial service on Monday, 13th Sept. at noon, at Lou Gehrig Plaza. Bronx Service Center for Relief / Resources Post Storm Ida Moving to New Location

NYC Emergency Management and the NYC Department of Social Services announced on Thursday, Sept. 9, that service centers in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens that were opened to support individuals and families affected by the flash flood emergency caused by Storm IDA on Sept. 1, will change locations beginning Friday, Sept. 10.  As previously reported, the centers are each day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and provide those affected with in-person support and information on resources and services available. B.R.A.G. & St. Barnabas Partner for New Youth Boxing Program

Since the second week of July, a group of four young Bronxites have been meeting at St. Barnabas Hospital’s Healthplex in Little Italy on Thursday and Friday evenings for hour-long fitness and boxing classes. The classes are the latest initiative by St. Barnabas Hospital and the Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence (B.R.A.G.). cure violence program.   The classes are part of a B.R.A.G., 12-week, pilot program which will end in October. UPDATE: Ridgewood Savings Bank Sedgwick Avenue Branch to Remain Open Finally

Ridgewood Savings Bank (“Ridgewood”) announced Wednesday, Sept. 1, that its Sedgwick Avenue branch, located at 3899 Sedgwick Avenue in the Van Cortlandt Village section of the Bronx, will finally remain open. Pending Arrival of Tropical Storm Ida Tail End, Travel Advisory in effect Sept. 1 to Sept. 2

New York City Emergency Management (EMS) is issuing a travel advisory for Wednesday morning into Thursday morning. According to the National Weather Service, remnants of Tropical Storm Ida will track near the region Wednesday afternoon into Thursday, bringing a period of heavy rain and potential flash flooding to the region, the bulk of which will occur overnight.   The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for New York City from 8 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, until Thursday, September 2, at 2 p.m. A total of 5 to 6 inches of rain is expected, with higher amounts of

DOT Announces Launch Date of E-Scooter Pilot Program in the East Bronx

New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Thursday, Aug. 12, the official launch of the city’s e-scooter pilot program in the East Bronx. Bird, Lime and Veo, the three companies participating in the pilot program, will bring up to 3,000 e-scooters to the East Bronx during Phase 1 which starts Tuesday, Aug. 17, with an increase to as many as 6,000 in the second phase next year.   According to DOT officials, both the department and each e-scooter company underwent an extensive community engagement process to locate sites for the e-scooter parking corrals and to educate the public about
