Construction applications have been filed with New York City Department of Buildings for a 12-story, mixed-use, residential building at 130 East 177th in Mount Hope, as reported by YIMBY.   Located between Morris Avenue and Grand Concourse, the interior lot is two blocks south from the Tremont Avenue subway station, serviced by the B and D trains. AG Report Finds Only 2/3 of Charity Donations Went to Charities & Professional Fundraisers Retained the Rest

In time for Giving Tuesday and the holiday season, on Monday, Nov. 29, New York Attorney General Letitia James released her annual “Pennies for Charity: Fundraising by Professional Fundraisers” report, which found that charities that used professional fundraisers received only about two-thirds of every dollar donated in 2020, with those fundraisers retaining the remainder — earning more than $380 million.   Analyzing 718 campaigns conducted by professional fundraisers in 2020, the report concluded that charities earned 73 percent of donations from those campaigns, a small increase from the previous year, and in line with the last four years’ results. “As

UPDATE Hate Crimes Continue to Rise as Politicians Rally Around Jeffrey Dinowitz following Swastika Display Outside Office

Hate crimes in New York City continue to rise as various elected officials across New York State have continued to rally around Bronx Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (A.D. 81), who is Jewish, in response to the recent protest organized by Republican gubernatorial candidate, Rob Astorino, outside Dinowitz’s Bronx office at 3107 Kingsbridge Avenue on Sunday, Nov. 14. Trash, Curbside Composting and Recycling Collection Changes over Thanksgiving Weekend

The New York City Department of Sanitation announced that in observance of Thanksgiving Day, there will be no trash, curbside composting or recycling collection on Thursday, Nov. 25.   Residents who normally receive Thursday trash or curbside composting collection may place their material at the curb between 4 p.m. and midnight Thursday evening. However there will be collection delays, as is common after holidays. They ask residents to be patient while they await collection. Residents who normally receive Thursday recycling collection should place their material out at curbside between 4 p.m. and midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 1, for pick-up on Thursday, Dec. 2.

Kingsbridge: Search for 63-Year-Old Missing Man

The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in ascertaining the whereabouts of a 63-year-old man reported missing on Tuesday, Nov. 23, from the Kingsbridge neighborhood, located in the 50th precinct.   Thomas Rosa, Thomas, 63, of  3632 Tibbett Avenue in Kingsbridge was last seen at his home at 11.30 hours on Tuesday, Nov. 23. He is described as being 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 190 pounds and was last seen wearing a green and black, flannel shirt over a gray, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and blue sneakers.   Anyone with information in regard to this incident

Balloon Inflation Day & Thanksgiving Day Parade Traffic Advisories

The NYPD announced that the annual balloon inflation ahead of the Thanksgiving Day parade celebrations in Manhattan will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 24, from noon to 6 p.m. Spectators may enter the queue at West 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue. Large backpacks, coolers, alcoholic beverages, chairs and umbrellas are expressly prohibited and participants will be screened prior to entering the viewing route.   At the organizer’s request, all attendees over aged 12 must be vaccinated and provide proof to the screeners in order to attend the balloon inflation. Children under 12 years may attend with a fully vaccinated adult.

Community Organizer, Shanequa Charles, Announces Run for Assembly District 78
