Fordham Manor: Man Charged for Bringing Loaded Machine Gun into Subway Released on Bail

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Tuesday, Dec. 10, that the Bronx man who was arrested for bringing a loaded machine gun into Kingsbridge Road subway station on Election Day, Nov. 5, has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and additional charges. As reported, the man was caught by police with an assault-style rifle and a large-capacity magazine in his backpack inside the station.

District 15 City Councilmember Oswald Feliz hosted his Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway on Monday, Nov. 25, where hundreds of local community members lined up to receive free turkeys and fresh produce at Rose Hill Park at the intersection of Webster Avenue and East Fordham Road in Fordham Manor.

Workers atop two cherry pickers were busy preparing a large Holiday Tree at Lou Gehrig Plaza in front of Bronx Borough Hall on 161st Street in the Concourse section of The Bronx on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in preparation for the Bronx Borough President’s Annual “Winter Wonderland” celebration which took place the following day on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Longwood: Three People Charged for Stealing $173,000 from Bronx M.S. 302

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark and Anastasia Coleman, special commissioner of investigation for the New York City School District announced on Wednesday, Nov. 4, that a NYC public school employee, the employee’s husband, and another person have been charged with corruption, grand larceny, and fraud charges for stealing over $173,000 from a Bronx middle school’s funds.

Norwood: Bronx Buccaneers & Others Pay Tribute to Late Volunteer Coach Dwight Downer

Following the death amid a road collision on Saturday, Nov. 30, of 60-year-old local, volunteer football coach Dwight Downer, players, friends and colleagues have been paying tribute to their friend and mentor. Downer coached local football team the Bronx Buccaneers, who regularly practice in the Williamsbridge Oval in Norwood, as well as Bedford Park’s DeWitt Clinton football team.

Manhattan University Announces the Launch of the James Patterson Honors Program
