Attorney General James Demands Transparency from GoFundMe on Unauthorized Fundraising
New York Attorney General Letitia James joined a bipartisan coalition on March 3 of 19 other attorneys general and charitable regulators in sending a letter to GoFundMe, raising grave concerns about the company’s creation of more than 1.4 million donation web pages for charities without their prior knowledge or consent.

Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani joined formerly detained Marble Hill high school student Dylan Josue Lopez Contreras, his mother, lawyers, New York Legal Assistance Group, and advocates on Thursday, March 19, in Manhattan to welcome him back to New York City following his release from the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Pennsylvania run by the U.S. Department of Immigration, Customs & Enforcement (ICE).

A 73-year-old woman who lives at 18 East 198th Street in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx said she remains without any heat or hot water in her apartment as the super awaits a part for the boiler system. The woman, Candida Sierra, said she is not alone and that several other residents are also affected.

A video circulating online showing a young female teen being assaulted and stomped on in the face by a group of other teens on Wednesday, April 1, in the Williamsbridge Oval park in the Norwood section of The Bronx, has been reported missing, according to the teen’s mom. The brutal incident took place where 14-year-old of Ángel Miguel Mendoza Hernández was fatally stabbed during a group assault on Aug. 5, 2025.
Injured Firefighter in Bedford Park Firehouse Blaze Released from Jacobi Medical Center
Following the fire that broke out at the Bedford Park firehouse for Engine 79/Latter 37 on Briggs Avenue on Thursday, March 26, in which 14 firefighters were injured, on Thursday, April 2, one of the injured firefighters, Laurie Galioto, from Ladder Company 37 was discharged from Jacobi Medical Center in Morris Park and was greeted on his release by his co-workers and fire unit.
