Report on Nursing Home Response to COVID-19 Pandemic Released

  The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) released a report on Jan. 28, entitled, “Nursing Home Response to COVID-19 Pandemic.” On its release, Richard Mollot, executive director of the Long Term Care Community Coalition (LTCCC) said, “This shocking yet unsurprising report must serve as a wake-up call that vulnerable residents and their families deserve better.” He added that many of the failures documented in this report had been going on for years and had only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.   The report included the following preliminary findings.   A larger number of nursing home

Williamsbridge: Man Sought in Connection with Burglary

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 16-year-old girl who was reported missing on Sunday, Oct. 3.    Angelica Black, 16, of 1181 Sherman Avenue, located in the 44th precinct, near Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, was last seen leaving her home, over one month ago, on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at approximately 6 p.m.,   She is described as being approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighs 110 pounds, has brown eyes and black hair. UPDATE Norwood: 8-Year-Old Missing Girl Found Safe

Police have confirmed that an 8-year-old girl who was reported missing on Sunday from the Norwood section of the Bronx has been found and is safe.   Users of the Citizens’ App posted on Sunday morning, Oct. 3, that police were searching for the child, described as an 8-year-old, Hispanic girl, who, prior to being found, had last been seen the same morning, wearing pink pajamas and traveling southbound on Webster Avenue.   Norwood News reached out to the NYPD for verification of the incident and for any further information on the missing girl, including a photo. Norwood: Man Cut & Robbed in Bainbridge Avenue Building

Police are looking for the suspect who slashed a man on the arm before stealing personal property from two victims inside a Bainbridge Avenue building in Norwood.   Police say the incident was reported at 7:41 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, inside 3591 Bainbridge Avenue. Officers from the 52nd precinct reported that a 20-year-old male victim got into a verbal dispute with the suspect, who displayed a knife and caused a small laceration to the victim’s arm. The suspect then forcibly removed property from both the victim and from an 18-year-old female victim. Police report no arrests in the case

FDNY Releases Child’s Finger from Seat Belt

  Fire department officials were called when a 4-year-old child got their finger caught in a seatbelt. FDNY confirmed the unusual incident took place at West Kingsbridge Road and Davidson Avenue in Fordham Manor, at 8:40 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24.   Without providing any additional details regarding the child’s gender or circumstances, one unnamed, fire official reported that the patient was treated at the scene and the child’s finger freed from the belt without suffering serious injury.
