UPDATE NWS Issues Thunderstorm Warning for Thursday, July 21 until 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm warning for July 21 until 8 p.m. for The Bronx, Queens, Manhattan Southeastern Bergen and Southern Westchester and a severe flash flood warning until 6 p.m.   NWS said a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. on July 21 for The Bronx, Manhattan and Southeastern Bergen and Westchester Counties.   At 12.52 p.m., the thunderstorm was located over Rutherford, and was moving east at 15 mph. A hazard of 60 mph wind gusts and one inch size hail is possible according to indicators from an NWS radar.

VA Reminds Veterans of National Veterans Crisis Helpline Number 988

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is reminding veterans of the number to call to reach the veterans crisis helpline. The number to dial is 988, then press 1. The service offered helps veterans and their loved ones reach crisis support quickly and efficiently.   Signed into law in 2020, the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act authorized 988 as the new three-digit number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.   The new, shorter number addresses the need for ease of access and clarity in times of crisis. The Woodlawn Cemetery board of trustees announced on July 19 that it has selected Christopher “Chris” Jeannopoulos to be its 11th president and CEO. Bronx Accused Major Trafficker Charged in Large-Scale Drug Operation near Bronx Courthouse

  The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) for the City of New York announced on Wednesday, July 20, that a Bronx man has been charged as a major trafficker following an investigation that uncovered a large-scale drug stash house at 910 Sheridan Avenue in an area just northwest of Melrose.   The residential apartment building is adjacent to the Bronx Family-Criminal Courthouse. Over $3 million dollars in drugs, including more than 40 pounds of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine, and approximately 1,000 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, were seized along with two guns and over $320,000 cash, according to law

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance locating a 16-year-old girl reported missing from Wakefield.   Police said Dayanara Diaz, of 4326 Richardson Avenue was last seen on Monday, July 18, at approximately 6.04 p.m., leaving her home. She is described as female, 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs approximately 110 pounds, is Hispanic, has brown eyes and long black hair.
