Crotona: Building Applications Filed with DOB for New Residential Building at 1827 Waterloo Place

Building applications have been filed with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) for a new, 7-story, residential building at 1827 Waterloo Place in the Crotona section of The Bronx, as reported by YIMBY.   Located between East 175th and East 176th Streets, the lot is closest to the 174th Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Williamsbridge: 62-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot

  The NYPD has launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a 62-year-old man in Williamsbridge.   According to an NYPD spokesperson, on Saturday, Oct. 22, at approximately 5.08 a.m., police responded to a “ShotSpotter activation,” a device used to track the sound of gunshots, at 763 East 219th Street.   Upon arrival, officers from the 47th Precinct found a 62-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to his head. “EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased,” the spokesperson said. City Island Rising Collects 200 Donations for Asylum Seekers During Clothing Drive

OVER 200 bags of donations were received for recently arrived asylum seekers in New York City during a clothing drive held by local organization, City Island Rising, over the weekend ending Sunday, Oct. 23, as other Bronxites took part in the annual Tour de Bronx cycle event. The organization’s representatives said the clothes and other items will be donated to those in need in the coming days. UPDATE Off-Duty Police Officer Arrested on Sex Abuse Charges in The Bronx

  An off-duty NYPD officer has been arrested on charges of sexual abuse in the 49th Precinct, which covers the neighborhoods of Allerton, Morris Park, Van Nest, Pelham Parkway, Eastchester Gardens, and Pelham Gardens.   Carlos Diaz, 36, was arrested on Friday, Oct. 21, at 10.45 p.m. and charged with forcible touching and sex abuse. He had not been arraigned as of Oct. 22. Olinville: 60-Year-Old Pedestrian Critical following Road Accident

NIAID: Three-Dose Hepatitis B Vaccine Regimen Protects People with HIV

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) announced that a three-dose course of the hepatitis B vaccine, HEPLISAV-B, fully protects adults living with HIV who have never been vaccinated against, or infected with, the hepatitis B virus (HBV), according to study findings presented on Friday, Oct. 21, at the Infectious Diseases (ID) Week conference in Washington, D.C. The NIAID, part of the National Institutes of Health, is sponsoring the ongoing Phase 3 ACTG A5379 clinical study.   HBV is spread primarily through sexual contact and through the sharing of contaminated needles.
