Pharmacies are closing at a pace our communities cannot afford. In 2024, according to NYC Center for an Urban Future, 10% of all New York City pharmacies shut down. Behind these closures is a quiet but devastating force: Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs). These powerful middlemen dictate what pharmacies are paid for prescriptions, and too often, they set reimbursement rates so low that pharmacies lose money with every prescription they fill.

The joint collaboration will explore the rich history of heavy metal and hardcore punk music in The Bronx, while also celebrating The Fox and King’s 14th anniversary.

Automated Camera Enforcement (ACE) MTA Program Expands to Q6, Bx20, Bx3 and Bx7

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reminding motorists that the Automated Camera Enforcement (ACE) program fines became effective on four more bus routes on Thursday, Nov. 13 i.e. on the Q6, Bx20, Bx3 and Bx7 bus routes and vehicles improperly using busways and bus lanes, blocking bus stops, or illegally double parked will receive summonses that start at $50 and escalate to $250 for repeat violators.

On the last day of early voting, Sunday, Nov. 2, before Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, independent mayoral candidate in the general election, paid a visit to the Norwood section of The Bronx to deliver remarks to congregants of Heavenly Vision Church, located on the campus of DeWitt Clinton High School. Though he denied stoking fear among voters with talk of communism, he referenced two communist countries Cuba & Venezuela during his remarks.

Puerto Rico’s political future is never far from the minds of its citizens and in recent months, its political status has, once again, been the subject of debate. Puerto Rico (the “Island”) is a territory of the United States. The U.S. acquired the Island from Spain in 1898, and it has belonged to the United States ever since. In 1917, Puerto Ricans became U.S. citizens. Everyone born in Puerto Rico is a citizen of the United States, but Puerto Rico is not a state; it continues to be a territory.

Halloween Festivals held in Kingsbridge Heights, Longwood

Youngsters in Kingsbridge Heights and in Longwood celebrated Halloween early as a large crowd turned out for Theory 9’s Annual “Trick or Streets” Halloween Festival, held on a dead-end (no pun intended) at West 231st Street and Sedgwick Avenue on Saturday, Oct. 25.
