UPDATE NYC Campaign Finance Board Approves $3 Million in Public Funds for General Election Candidates

The NYC Campaign Finance Board (CFB) approved $3,119,815 in public matching funds payments to 56 citywide candidates during a public meeting on Thursday, July 15. With these payments, the Board has issued more than $112 million to candidates in the 2021 elections.   The payments approved by the Board on Thursday are detailed in the table below. The CFB’s interactive contribution map helps voters see where candidates are raising money within the city, and show that more than 93 percent of individual contributions raised by candidates are less than $250, and that more than 72 percent come from NYC residents.

Bronx Man Sentenced to 16 Years in Prison for Fatally Beating Two-Year-Old Boy

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Thursday, July 15, that a Bronx man had been sentenced to 16 years in prison for brutally beating a two-year-old boy in 2018, causing his death.   Clark said the defendant mercilessly beat an innocent two-year-old child named Messiah Allen, causing fatal injuries. “The defendant, who was the boyfriend of the child’s mother, attacked him while she was at her job. UPDATE Bedford Park: Two Men Sought in Slashing Incident

The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the two unidentified men seen in the attached photos who are sought in connection with an assault that occurred in Bedford Park, in the 52nd Precinct.   It was reported to police that on Monday, July 12, at approximately 9.41 a.m., at the corner of Valentine Avenue and East 204th Street in Bedford Park, a 61-year-old man got into a verbal dispute with the two suspects. New Settlement Community Center Receives $150,000 NYS DOL Grant to Help Youth Employment

New Settlement Community Center and Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner (77th A.D.) announced a $150,000 grant from the New York State Department of Labor on Tuesday, July 14, that will enable the organization’s Young Adult Opportunity Initiative (YAOI) to expand its reach to Bronx youth as they seek employment and educational opportunities.   The awarded funds will create employment and educational opportunities for 160 out-of-school, out-of-work youth aged 17 to 24 years of age in the Southwest Bronx/Mount Eden community, and serve 150 alumni in 2021. Police from the 52nd precinct are seeking the public’s assistance locating the man seen in the attached photos who is wanted for questioning in relation to a felony assault involving a machete which occurred in Fordham Manor on Sunday.
