Adams Meets with Israeli Hostages, Political Leaders & Military During Mayoral Trip to Israel

New York City Mayor Eric Adams continued his tour of Israel on Saturday, Nov. 15, meeting with Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Asaf Zamir and then conducting a walking tour of the Nachalat Binyamin neighborhood.

 

As reported, the mayor is on a multi-day trip of Israel for the purpose of meeting with government officials, economic development leaders, and members of the tech community, in addition to visiting religious sites and discussing efforts to combat antisemitism in New York City and across the world.

Prior to leaving the United States on Friday, Adams had attended the wake in Brooklyn on Thursday, Nov. 13, for FDNY Firefighter Patrick Brady who, as reported, died on Saturday, Nov. 8, as a result of a cardiac arrest while responding to an “all hands” fire in Brooklyn.

On Sunday, the mayor attended the opening celebratory dinner of the 34th International Mayors Conference by the American Jewish Congress, “AI: Empowering the Cities of Tomorrow,” with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and 20 international mayors from a dozen nations.

 

He also visited the Western Wall and met with Israeli hostages kidnapped during the October 7th 2023 terrorist attacks on Israel who have since returned home, including Yarden Bibas, Bar Kuperstein, and Sagi Dekel-Chen. Officials said Adams heard about their experiences and paid tribute to their strength and resilience.

On Monday, Nov. 17, according to his press schedule, the mayor will continue his multi-day trip with a tour of the City of David.

 

He will meet with the President of the State of Israel Isaac Herzog, the Foreign Minister of Israel Gideon Sa’ar, the consul general of Israel in New York Ofir Akunis, the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, and the speaker of the Knesset (parliament) Amir Ohana.

Later, the mayor will attend a reception with Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion.  

 

Finally, the mayor will attend a dinner hosted by the Israel Export Institute in honor of the New York City-Israel Economic Council.

The dinner will include leading business leaders and Israeli Minister of Economy Nir Barkat.
