An NYPD spokesperson said a search and rescue operations are underway after a person was seen jumping off the Throggs Neck Bridge on Sunday evening, June 8. The bridge links the Throggs Neck section of the borough with Queens.
Police said, “An unidentified male was observed by witnesses jumping off Throggs Neck Bridge at 18.34 hours. Investigation ongoing.”

Later on Sunday, an FDNY spokesperson said the FDNY received a call at 6.43 p.m. for a report of a person who had jumped off the bridge. They said no patient was found and the scene was turned over to the NYPD.

There are some unconfirmed reports that units from SUNY Maritime College were deployed to assist with the operation. We will share any further updates we receive.

As reported, one person is in critical condition and 22 people were rescued after after a boat caught fire off Hart Island on Saturday night, June 7.
