Police said a 41-year-old man is stable following a two-vehicle collision that took place in Van Cortlandt Park on Friday evening, Oct. 10.
An NYPD spokeswoman said the collision occurred at around 5.01 p.m. on Friday at Van Cortlandt Park South and the Major Deegan Expressway after the 41-year-old male driver of a 2025 Volkswagon, with one female passenger, which was traveling southbound in the right lane, collided with a 2024 Lexus driven by a 68-year-old male driver, which was also traveling southbound in the middle lane.
Police said the Lexus also had one female 61-year-old passenger and that neither occupants of the Lexus were injured. They said the driver of the Volkswagon incurred head injuries after the vehicle overturned but the female passenger, aged 37, did not. They said the driver was taken by EMS to Jacobi Medical Center in Morris Park and remains in stable condition.
With collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigation, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.
