UPDATE Wakefield: 31-Year-Old Man Shot Dead

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man in Wakefield.

An NYPD spokesperson said, “On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at approximately 22.46 hours, police responded to a 911 call of a male shot in front of 686 East 234 Street, within the confines of the 47 Precinct.”

The official added, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 31-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the torso.”

EMS reportedly responded to the location and transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police officials said there are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

On July 14, the police confirmed the deceased had been identified as Christopher Bowers, 31, of 686 East 234th Street in Wakefield.
