UPDATE Melrose: Police Investigation Ongoing After Toddler Found Unattended

THE NYPD IS appealing to the public for help locating the parents or guardian of an unidentified child found in the Melrose section of Bronx on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

The New York City Police Department is continuing to investigate after an unidentified child was found in the Melrose section of the Bronx unattended on Sunday, May 18.

Police had appealed to the public for help locating the child’s parents / guardian when at around 3 p.m. opposite 710 Courtland Avenue, the unidentified and unsupervised child was found and transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln for evaluation.

 

They described the child as a little boy of 2 to 3 years of age with a medium complexion and black hair. They said he was found wearing a yellow shirt with black stripes, black and white striped shorts, and black sandals.

 

In the early hours of Monday morning, they announced that the boy’s parents had been located and the investigation was ongoing.
