University Heights: Scooter Driver Sought after Older Female Pedestrian Hospitalized in Hit & Run

THE NYPD IS asking for the public’s help identifying and locating the vehicle and driver seen in this photo. They say the driver is sought in connection with leaving the scene of a road collision with injuries that occurred on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 at Burnside Avenue and Jerome Avenue in University Heights section of The Bronx.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying and locating the vehicle and driver seen in the attached photo. They say the driver is sought in connection with leaving the scene of a road collision with injuries that occurred in University Heights.

 

Police said that on Friday, Feb. 23, at around 1.14 p.m., a 71-year-old female victim was walking eastbound on Burnside Avenue approaching Jerome Avenue when she was struck by a person driving a white, electric two-wheel vehicle heading northbound on Jerome Avenue. “The vehicle operator fled the scene northbound on Jerome Avenue,” police said. “The victim sustained injuries to her head and face was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition.”

 

Police said the driver of the vehicle is described as male, is around 5 feet, 6 inches tall, has a light complexion, was seen wearing his hair in a ponytail, and has a slim build. He was last seen wearing a light-blue, hooded sweatshirt, white sneakers and black sweatpants.
