Norwood: Sun Shines for Mosholu Fall Festival
After heavy rain dampened the atmosphere somewhat during last year’s Annual Mosholu Fall Festival, this year’s event could not have taken place on a more perfect day as the sun beamed down on Knox Gate Playground on Mosholu Parkway and Gates Place in Norwood, drawing families and neighbors together for a fun-filled day.
UPDATE Bronx Community District 7 Residents Disappointed with Delays in CB7 Parks’ Budget Requests
Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) Parks committee spent much of their September meeting discussing the district’s needs from a parks, recreation and cultural affairs perspective, in preparation for the City’s budget discussions next year. Since many of CB7’s capital and expense requests previously submitted last year to various city agencies have been pending for several years, some residents voiced their concern and frustration at the delays in actioning those requests.

Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) members were joined by veterans, residents of the district, Bedford Mosholu Community Association (BMCA) members, members of the 52nd Precinct Community Council and others for their 2nd Annual Veterans Day Commemoration held at the Bronx Victory Memorial on Mosholu Parkway in Bedford Park to mark Veterans Day.
Bronx Community Board 7 Members Attend Flagging Event at Woodlawn Cemetery
Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) members joined residents for the annual “flagging of the graves” event on Wednesday, May 24, ahead of Memorial Day weekend, Volunteers at Woodlawn Cemetery on Webster Avenue on the Norwood-Woodlawn border also participated by locating the gravesites of U.S. veterans and placing an American flag at each grave. As CB7 members arrived, with invited guests, Bonnie Morales, army veteran and support coordinator at NY Outreach Services, and Ronald Downs, suicide prevention community engagement & partnerships coordinator for the local VA hospital in Fordham Manor, they were greeted by Meg Ventrudo, executive director of Woodlawn Conservancy.

Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7) held their 2nd Annual Veterans’ Memorial Flagging event at the Bronx Victory Memorial, located on Mosholu Parkway in Bedford Park, on Saturday, May 13, 2023, ahead of Memorial Day weekend. A flagging event is an occasion when residents visit the grave sites or other memorial sites dedicated to veterans and place American flags there in memory and honor of those who served and died for their country. A plaque commemorating Bronx veterans, located at the Bronx Victory Memorial on Mosholu Parkway in Bedford Park, was photographed on the ground some time before Saturday, Dec. 10. It is unknown if the plaque fell over due to bad weather or if it was purposefully knocked down.
