Police said a 26-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal shooting in the Belmont section of The Bronx of 22-year-old Miguel Vargas from Fordham Heights in mid-February. A 21-year-old man has died from gunshot wounds and a 22-year-old man who was also shot has been hospitalized following a shooting incident in the Belmont section of The Bronx on Sunday, police said. The NYPD has opened a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man in Belmont. Police said that on Sunday, Feb. 26, at approximately 1.24 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired at the intersection of Bathgate Avenue and East 183rd Street. “Upon arrival, officers observed a 25-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the head,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “EMS responded and transported the aided male to St. Barnabas hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
