Belmont: Permits Filed for 2330 Cambreleng Avenue

A building permit application has been filed to construct an eight-story, residential building at 2330 Cambreleng Avenue in the Belmont section of the Bronx, as reported by YIMBY. Located between East 187th Street and East 183rd Street, the lot is closest to the 182-183 Streets subway station, serviced by the B and D trains. Aaron Yaghoobian of Global Management is listed as the owner on the application. The proposed 75-foot tall development will yield 33,001 square feet, with 32,141 square feet designated for residential space and 860 square feet for community facility space on the first floor.

The NYPD recently confirmed a 41-year-old man died in a Norwood apartment. According to police spokeswoman, Detective Annette Shelton, officers from the 52nd precinct were called to 333 East 209th Street at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 21. Shelton said of the incident, “Upon arrival, a 41-year-old male was discovered unconscious, lying in the hallway of the location.” She added, “EMS responded and pronounced the male deceased.” The deceased man’s name was not immediately released as it was pending proper family notification. Bronx homicide detectives are working overtime this weekend after at least five people were shot, three fatally, in less than 24-hours. A 21-year-old man has died following a shooting in Fordham Manor. Police responded to a call about an assault inside 2550 Bainbridge Avenue, located in the 52nd precinct on Friday, Aug. 13, at approximately 4.09 p.m. Upon arrival, officers observed a 21-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, lying unconscious and unresponsive inside the location. EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. The deceased has been identified as Jayquan Lewis of Fordham Manor in the Bronx.

Police have classified the recent death of a 7-year-old girl in Mott Haven as a homicide. On Tuesday, August 10, at approximately 8.06 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding an unconscious female inside an apartment at an Alexander Avenue residential building in Mott Haven, located in the 40th precinct, and also in Police Service Area (PSA) 7 which serves NYCHA housing in the 40th and 42nd precincts. New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Thursday, Aug. 12, the official launch of the city’s e-scooter pilot program in the East Bronx.
