Norwood: Search for 58-Year-Old Missing Man

A 58-year-old man was reported missing from Norwood on Friday, Sept. 30, and the NYPD is seeking the public’s help locating him.   Police said it was reported to them that Melvin Phillips, 58, from 3144 Hull Avenue was last seen Friday, Sept. 23, at 8 p.m., leaving his home. He is described as having brown eyes, is balding, has a dark complexion, is 6 feet tall, has a medium build and weighs around 180 pounds. Williamsbridge: Permits Filed for New Building at 3030 Colden Avenue

Late Lehman College Faculty Member, David Carroll Fletcher, is Fondly Remembered

Representatives of Lehman College said they are deeply saddened to announce the passing of David Carroll Fletcher, a longtime faculty member in the college’s school of education. They said Fletcher was part of the Lehman family for over two decades and served as an assistant professor in the Department of Middle and High School Education. Mayor, NYC Parks, NYCHA to Build New Open Spaces, Playgrounds at NYCHA Housing Developments

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks), and the NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced, on Sept. 14, a pilot program to re-imagine and invest in nearly three acres of NYCHA open space, including playgrounds, at two developments in the Soundview section of The Bronx, three in Queens, and one in Brooklyn.   The announcement was held at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new open space at Pomonok Houses in Queens, which has been fully reconstructed under the pilot program and now includes fitness equipment, sensory play equipment, seating, and new landscaping.
