Norwood: Patient Transported to NCB after Hostage / Barricade Situation at Putnam Place

One person was hospitalized on Sunday, May 24, after a reported hostage / barricade situation in the Norwood section of The Bronx, EMS officials said.

 

A spokesperson for the FDNY/EMS said that emergency services received a call at around 2.35 p.m. on Sunday for a reported “hostage/ barricaded situation.”

They said one civilian patient was transported to nearby North Central Bronx Hospital and that their condition and description was unknown. They said no additional information was available.

 

Norwood News contacted the NYPD for further information about the incident. The press office had no report on file when we called but we will share any further updates we receive.

Deputy Inspector Asif Iqbal, commanding officer of the 52nd Precinct, was seen on site along with a few different NYPD emergency vehicles.

 

We spoke to some local residents to ask if they had seen or heard what happened but they said they did not.

One local worker, Ditto, who did not know what had happened either said emergency services had been on site outside the building for around two hours. They were seen leaving the area around 4.20 p.m.
