Health Officials Announce Wastewater Monitoring as Polio Detected in New York City

City and State health officials updated New Yorkers on the detection of polio in the City’s sewage system on Friday, Aug. 12, suggesting a likely local circulation of the virus in New York City. Polio can lead to permanent paralysis of the arms and legs and even death in some cases.   State Health Commissioner Dr. Mary T. Bedford Park Man Arrested on Murder Charges following Fatal Shooting of 20-Year-Old in Belmont

Police said a 25-year-old man from Bedford Park has been arrested in connection with the murder investigation of a 20 year-old-man that took place in Belmont on July 27.   A police spokesperson said, “On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at approximately 0409 hours, police responded to a male shot in front of 717 East 187 Street, within the confines of the 48 Precinct. Four Charged for Interstate Trafficking of Ghost Guns into Yonkers

Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Fordham Manor: Search for 70-Year-old Man Reported Missing

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating a 70-year-old man reported missing in Fordham Manor. Police said Michael Hernandez, 70, of 100 West Kingsbridge Road in The Bronx, NY, was last seen Thursday, Aug. 11, at 1.30 p.m., leaving his home. Artist, Ruth Marshall, Brings Flower Power to Bronx Park

Council Passes Historic Maternal Health Package to Help Address Racial Disparities

For the first time in the history of the City Council, on Thursday, Aug. 11, the legislative body passed a package of legislation addressing significant disparities in maternal health, mortality, and morbidity.
