Police said a 22-year-old man has been arrested on murder charges following the shooting in the head of another 22-year-old man in Mt. Eden on Saturday. Two other young men are in hospital, one in critical condition, following the triple shooting.

Police said that on Saturday, Aug. 27, at around 3.50 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a person shot near the corner of East Burnside Avenue and Grand Concourse in Mt. Eden, located in the 46th Precinct.

Upon arrival, officers observed three people with sustained gunshot wounds. The first, a 22-year-old man, had been shot in the head. The second, a 25-year-old man, was shot in the left leg, and the third, a 22-year-old man, had been shot in the torso.

EMS responded to the location and transported all three victims to St. Barnabas Hospital, where the first 22-year-old who was shot in the head was pronounced deceased, the 25-year-old was in stable condition, and the second 22-year-old was in critical condition.

Another 22-year-old man was taken into custody at a location away from the incident location, with charges pending. No weapon had yet been recovered. “The investigation remains ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.

The deceased has been identified as Joshua Thomas, a 22-year-old man from Olinville Avenue in the Allerton section of the borough.

On Sunday, Aug. 28, police said Roman Anderson of White Plains Road, in the vicinity of the Parkside Housing Project in Williamsbridge, was arrested in connection with the incident and was charged with murder, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
