UPDATE University Heights: Two Injured in Collision as Driver Crashes into Parked Vehicles at High Speed

Two people were transported to hospital last week following a road accident on Sedgwick Avenue in University Heights. The NYPD said that on Thursday, May 19, at approximately 9.05 p.m., the collision took place in front of 2300 Sedgwick Avenue. A police official said, “An 18-year-old male of The Bronx was operating a 2000 Mercedes-Benz at a high rate of speed, and turned around a bed and lost control of the vehicle, striking three, parked, unoccupied vehicles.” The police official added, “The driver and [an] 18-year-old male passenger were removed to St. Barnabas Hospital for medical treatment.”

Freelance filmmaker and former District 11 City Council candidate, Kevin Pazmino, has confirmed that he is running for office, once again, this time in Assembly District 81, currently represented by Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz. Pazmino ran unsuccessfully on the Republican Party and Conservative Party tickets in the 2021 City Council general election which was ultimately won by now Councilman Eric Dinowitz. Norwood News had reported recently that Pazmino’s name was being floated in the context of the 81st Assembly race but at that point, he had not formally confirmed his candidacy, though a PAC had been created in his name.

A woman has died and a 36-year-old man remains in critical condition following a two-vehicle road collision on University Avenue in Fordham Manor. The NYPD confirmed an 89-year-old woman who had been reported missing in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx has been found. Prior to being located, Violet Clarke, 89, of East 216th Street, had last been seen at her home on Sunday, May 22. She was described as female, 5 feet, 2 inches tall, Black and weighing 130 pounds. Prior to being found, she had last been seen wearing a gray top, dark-colored pants and black sneakers. The New York City office of the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Bronx county and nearby regions on Sunday, May 22, until 8.45 p.m. At 7.39 p.m., weather officials said severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Paterson to near Caldwell and East Hanover, moving northeast at 25 mph.
