Electeds Join Community Members for Rally Opposing New Kingsbridge Charter School

Kingsbridge: Man Armed with Imitation Pistol acting “Crazy” Shot by Police on Elevated Subway Track

  One man has been hospitalized following a police-involved shooting at 231st Street subway station in Kingsbridge, following an apparent stand off on the elevated train track between police and the man who officers said was armed with a gun. Witnesses also reported seeing  a man on the elevated train track at 238th Street subway station armed with a gun, who had been acting erratically.   A press conference was held a few hours after the incident under 231st Street subway station, which along with a long stretch of Broadway, had been cordoned off by police. UPDATE Nine Rikers Island Inmates & Alleged Bloods Gang Members Charged with Assault of Six Other Inmates

UPDATE Three Building Contractors Charged in First Bronx Manslaughter and Criminally Negligent Homicide Case

Three building contractors were indicted on Wednesday, April 12, in the first Bronx case to bring charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide for a construction fatality which took place, as reported by Norwood News at the time, at 94 East 208th Street in Norwood in 2019.   The victim, a father and 46-year-old Ecuadorian immigrant worker, Segundo Manuel Huerta Mayancela, was crushed by 1,000 pounds of debris in what was described as an egregiously dangerous building site, a joint investigation by NYC Department of Investigation (DOI) and the Bronx District Attorney’s office found. Elections 2023: Irene Estrada Lays Out her Case for her City Council Run in District 13

Former Democratic female district leader for the 80th assembly district and Democratic candidate for city council in District 13, Irene Estrada, briefly broke down why she is running for the seat against incumbent, City Councilwoman Marjorie Velázquez when we spoke to her at the 25th Throggs Neck St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 12.   Estrada, whose two daughters serve with the NYPD, and who is on the clergy council of the 49th Precinct, said, “Our streets are a mess with crime.” She added, “We also need to bring back the school safety task force. Fordham Heights: Housing Lottery for Twin Parks Terrace Closes April 11

An affordable housing lottery remains open for Twin Parks Terrace, a 14-story mixed-use building located at 373 East 183rd Street in the Fordham Heights section of The Bronx, as reported by YIMBY.   Though the name is similar, and though the building is located in Fordham Heights, Twin Parks Terrace is not at the same building as where the devastating Twin Parks fire tragedy occurred on Sunday, Jan. 9, last year, tragically claiming the lives of 17 people, including 8 children, most of whom were immigrants.   The Twin Parks North West fire broke out at 333 East 181st Street,
