Woman Injured in 4-Car Crash in Norwood

At least one woman was injured, and four cars were damaged when the axle on one car detached, causing the car to smash into three other vehicles in the Norwood section of the Bronx. An axle on a vehicle is a rod or shaft that rotates the wheels and supports the car’s weight. According to NYPD spokeswoman, Sergeant Jessica McRorie, the crash was reported outside Woodlawn Cemetery, at East 211th Street and Tryon Avenue in Norwood at 10:32 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22. The FDNY responded to a fire inside a 5-story building on Briggs Avenue in Bedford Park. A Williamsbridge man who was convicted of manslaughter and assault following a horrific crash which occurred on the Grand Concourse in 2018, has been sentenced to four to ten-years in prison.
