Woman Injured in 4-Car Crash in Norwood

At least one woman was injured, and four cars were damaged when the axle on one car detached, causing the car to smash into three other vehicles in the Norwood section of the Bronx.   An axle on a vehicle is a rod or shaft that rotates the wheels and supports the car’s weight. According to NYPD spokeswoman, Sergeant Jessica McRorie, the crash was reported outside Woodlawn Cemetery, at East 211th Street and Tryon Avenue in Norwood at 10:32 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22.   Officers from the 52nd precinct were observed surveying the damage, and at least one female victim was transported to a local hospital

Republican mayoral candidate, Curtis Sliwa, was struck by a yellow cab on Friday, Oct. 29 in Manhattan, while rushing to a live radio show at WABC, according to sources from his campaign.   Sliwa went ahead and completed his hour-long scheduled show interview. The FDNY responded to a fire inside a 5-story building on Briggs Avenue in Bedford Park. Lawsuit Gives Blind Individuals Access to NYS Emergency Mass Notification System

People who are blind and use screen readers will now have independent access to life-saving information offered by “NY-Alert,” New York State’s Mass Notification System. Williamsbridge Man Sentenced in Fatal Grand Concourse Crash
