Preston High School Hosts Alumnae Reunion After 16 Months

After 16 months of postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Preston High School, an all girls school located in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx, finally got to host an alumnae reunion for the class years ending in zeros, fives, ones, and sixes on Saturday, Sept. 18.   According to the alumnae association, the celebration began with mass, followed by what was described as a delicious luncheon, catered by Posto 22, in the school’s cafeteria and back porch, with alumnae from various years in attendance.   Amid reported great joy and excitement, members of the classes of 1955 and

Mosholu Library’s Outdoor Patio Proves a Hit with Patrons

Having been closed for more than a year, due to the citywide shutdown brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, the Mosholu branch of New York Public Library (NYPL), like many others, reopened to the public in July, as reported. Bedford Park Student Honored for Tobacco Awareness Initiative

UPDATE New “Green” Tremont Playground to Absorb Stormwater & Help Reduce Flooding

All Three New York City Public Library Systems Eliminate Late Fines

New York Public Library (NYPL) system, which covers 92 locations across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island, will no longer charge late fines on books and other circulating materials, eliminating barriers to reading and ensuring all New Yorkers, especially those in low-income neighborhoods, have free and open access to knowledge and opportunity, an NYPL representative  announced on Tuesday, Oct. 5.   Bobby Sherwood, publicist for NYPL, told the Norwood News, in response to our recent inquiry, “All prior late fees from patron accounts have been cleared, allowing New Yorkers a clean slate.” He added, “Combined [with Brooklyn Public Library (BPL)
