NYC Emergency Management and the NYC Department of Social Services announced on Thursday, Sept. 9, that service centers in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens that were opened to support individuals and families affected by the flash flood emergency caused by Storm IDA on Sept. 1, will change locations beginning Friday, Sept. 10.  As previously reported, the centers are each day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and provide those affected with in-person support and information on resources and services available. B.R.A.G. & St. Barnabas Partner for New Youth Boxing Program

Since the second week of July, a group of four young Bronxites have been meeting at St. Barnabas Hospital’s Healthplex in Little Italy on Thursday and Friday evenings for hour-long fitness and boxing classes. Ridgewood Savings Bank (“Ridgewood”) announced Wednesday, Sept. 1, that its Sedgwick Avenue branch, located at 3899 Sedgwick Avenue in the Van Cortlandt Village section of the Bronx, will finally remain open. Pending Arrival of Tropical Storm Ida Tail End, Travel Advisory in effect Sept. 1 to Sept. 2

New York City Emergency Management (EMS) is issuing a travel advisory for Wednesday morning into Thursday morning. DOT Announces Launch Date of E-Scooter Pilot Program in the East Bronx

New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) announced Thursday, Aug. 12, the official launch of the city’s e-scooter pilot program in the East Bronx. CUNY’s Mexican Studies Institute at Lehman College Lands $1 Million City Council Award

The CUNY Mexican Studies Institute (MSI), housed at Lehman College, is celebrating its 10th year with a significant new investment from local lawmakers. In July, the institute received a funding allocation of $1 million from New York City Council to support its work.   CUNY MSI is one of just two research centers in the Northeast of the country dedicated to Mexican and Mexican American studies. Third Yemeni American Day Parade Held in Bronx’s “Little Yemen”
