UPDATE Wakefield: Arrest Made in Investigation into Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old Male

Police have made an arrest in the murder investigation of a 19-year-old male who was shot multiple times in the chest last month in Wakefield. On Friday, March 25, at approximately 6.48 p.m., police responded to gunshot activity which was picked up by certain gunshot technology at 4389 Matilda Avenue in Wakefield. Upon arrival, officers observed a 19-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso in front of 638 Nereid Avenue, also in the Wakefield section of the borough. EMS responded and transported the aided man to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. No arrests

The Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) released an updated “protest data snapshot” on Thursday, March 24, updating the public on the status of the 319 complaints filed to date and stemming from the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. Thus far, CCRB officials said 269 cases have been closed, with 187 substantiated allegations filed against 104 members of service.
